Apartment M

Located in the Centre of Milan, Apartment M was originally built and furnished in the early 1970s. The brief included an extensive interior renovation for a young couple with two children. A series of small rooms were opened up to create 3 large and light filled bedrooms, an entertainers kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a generous combined living & dining area.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. The room is centred around a large freestanding island bench designed for both food preparation and bar style seating. Grey cabinetry forms a divider wall to the laundry, hides the built in fridge freezer and offers extensive floor to ceiling pantry storage. Once again, clean lines, muted colours and natural materials are key to the modern design aesthetic.

The clients desire to create a soft and calming home, inspired a Scandinavian palette of colours and materials.  Base colours; white, black and grey are complimented by natural oak furniture and flooring throughout.

White wardrobes, side boards and side tables, maximise organisation and reduce the visual stimulation in the home. Simple yet effective, these units were personalised in colour and size through a local Italian furniture brand.

Colourful artworks, accessories and design icons provide a fun contrast to the neutral base and an opportunity to mix up the style in future years.
