Alterations and additions made over the past 20 years will be removed restoring the Villas original charm. Existing stonework, wooden doors, shutters, and beams will be carefully repaired and repurposed, preserving their historic value.
The current confused layout will be reconfigured to provide open spacious and light filled rooms with clear paths of circulation.
The concept for the interior follows the Japanese practice of “wabi sabi.” Imperfections and irregularity found throughout the villa are celebrated and complimented by careful selection of materials, colours and subtle integration of new technology.
The choice of oak for the new flooring, furniture & kitchen cabinetry will add softness whilst contrasting and highlighting the antique cherry wood found throughout. A deep sage colour to the remaining kitchen cabinetry, ceramic pendant lights, woven stools and copper details will further emphasis the connection to nature.
On the ground floor an entertainers kitchen complete with hidden butlers pantry will be followed by a living area, dining space, laundry and powder room. The first floor instead will be dedicated to the owners private use with a large bedroom, walk in wardrobe, ensuite bathroom, home office and future gym. Finally the second and last floor will provide guest accommodation with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom overlooking the surrounding farmland.
In the bathrooms, new lighting will showcase the irregularities, texture and tones of the existing stonework. The addition of earthy tiles in various patterns and sizes will create both interest and flow within the spaces. Likewise, bronze tapware , large mirrors and wooden vanities will emphasise a sense of tranquility and retreat.
